Homade Granola

Today I made some granola for the kids. I have been looking online trying to find some healthy snacks to make. My kids are always hungry! When Josh was younger everyone always commented on what a good eater he was..well, nothing has changed except now we have three good eaters instead of one. So, I have decided that if my kids are going to eat all day they probably should be eating somewhat healthy. Not only do I want them to eat nutritious for their healths sake, but also because I don't want our family to be on the next Maurey episode of "Obese Toddlers and The Parents that Feed Them". Anyways, the granola turned out really good and is was really easy to make. Here is the site where I found the recipe if anyones interested.http://www.breakfastblogger.com/category/recipes/peabodys-recipes/

I decided I would have a new hobby this year (something other than my usual sitting in front of the tv and eating bon-bons) so I started a vegetable garden. I started in March/April planting tomato, watermelon and cantalope seeds inside the house. I transplanted them outside in my 25x30' garden in May. I also planted peppers, green beans, radishes, carrots, green onions, lettuce, brocolli, sugar snap peas. zuchinni, squash, and cucumbers from seed. Everything grew but my pepper plants never germinated and all the mellons died except for one watermellon plant:( So far we have enjoyed eating radishes, lettuce, carrots, green onions, zuchinni, sugar snap peas, green beans, and cucumbers. The brocolli is ready to be picked and hopefully the tomatoes will be ripe soon. I have definitely learned alot about gardening this summer and I can't wait until next year. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Dan and I took the kids to Riverfront park on Saturday. The kids had a blast. They were having a special kids day and they were giving away all sorts of great junk. You know, the stuff kids love and parents hate...the stuff they will play with for a day and then will end up broken in the bottom of the toy chest:) Anyway, they had lots of fun. Kayla and Josh got to get their arms painted. I tried to talk Kayla into getting a glittery butterfly on her arm, but she insisted on the pathetic brown puppy. That's my girl! Josh's favorite part of the day was at the gymnastics booth-yes, I said gymnastics booth- when the little girls took him through the tumbling course. That's my boy! Well we had a great day, but mom and dad are very happy it only happens once a year. We're getting old:)

Lets try this again...

I guess my last entry was a little hard to read-I didn't realize I had picked a black background. Oops! O well, the picture says it all anyway. Well, I really have to go to bed, but I knew I would never sleep if I hadn't figured out this blogging thing first.

Ok, so this picture is a little old..actually over a year, but aren't these the cutest kids ever! They are even cuter now than in the picture. Hopefully, I will figure out how to use a digital camera in the next year:) so I can add some recent pictures.
Sorry if this entry was somewhat boring. Pray that something interesting will happen to me and I will be sure to post it next time.
